After getting my animation degree in December 2003, I was unemployed for nearly 10 years. I was troubled by thoughts of God’s punishment, feeling guilty for not reading the Bible or praying enough, and believing I should have more faith. I was angry at God.

On January 15, 2013, after sending out many applications, I finally received my first job interview, but I didn’t get the job. I felt so broken.

Since late 2008, I have been listening to Pastor Prince’s sermons. One day, I tuned into a sermon he had preached years ago. At the end of the sermon, he said, “There’s someone who is listening to this. There’s a lot of restlessness and a lot of things you are going through that God wants to bring peace to. God’s going to take care of your finances. There’s going to be a major breakthrough this year, not next year!” My heart burned with hope. That word was for me.

That hope lasted a few weeks before I found myself sinking back into depression. Maybe I had misheard God. I remember praying in the shower, “Father, it’s been so long. I don’t even have the faith to believe anymore. But I trust that You will still give me my miracle just because You love me.” By that time, I had stopped sending out job applications. I had given up.

In November, my friend texted me and said, “My manager saw your work and really liked it. He’s looking for someone talented who has no experience.” I went for the interview that lasted 4 hours, and of all the candidates, all 10 interviewers voted for me. My first day on the job was in December 2013. Everything happened so fast! God fulfilled His promise of giving me a breakthrough that year, right in the last month! It felt surreal that my season of waiting had finally come to an end.

I became debt-free shortly thereafter, and the salary for someone with no experience was overwhelming. The job came with incredible perks: free gourmet meals 3 times a day, paid cellphone bills, unlimited time off, and a paid vacation to Hawaii as a reward. The blessings didn’t stop there. Within just 5 months, I received a promotion without even asking for it. Within a year after that, I leveled up to a senior position—something that would normally take at least 5 years.

When I had already given up searching for a job and saw myself without faith, God, in His love, remained faithful. He wasn’t offended because, from the very beginning, He saw the perfect work of His Son on the cross for me.
