Answered Prayers for a Job and Better Mortgage
I spent 2 years freelancing, but my monthly income was not stable, and my yearly income was less than $30,000. Eventually, I decided to return to being a hospital employee. I listen to Pastor Prince’s sermons daily, and in one of them, he said, “Ask big. Don’t just ask for a job but for a position with influence. God will give to you according to His riches in heaven. He is your heavenly Father.”
I pulled up my computer and applied to 2 hospitals. Immediately, I received 2 offers, both with 6-figure salaries. One job was an hour and a half away from my home, and the other was just 30 minutes away and paid more. Of course, I chose the closer one since I didn’t want to spend over 3 hours in traffic every day.
When I first started at the job, a few people were completely rude and abusive, and the environment was toxic. I was ready to quit and go somewhere else. But one day, on my way to work, I prayed for wisdom because I was so distressed by how the other nurses were treating me. I said, “My Father in heaven, You gave me this position, and now I need Your wisdom and peace. I believe You will open doors no one can shut. You know my heart, so I’m putting all these nurses in Your hands. I love You, Father.”
Nine months later, 6 of the nurses who had been giving me a hard time left the hospital. The worst one, who had hit my hand and told me in front of others that she wanted me to suffer and punish me for no reason, was fired and escorted out by security, without me filing a complaint.
I’ve now been in this position for 14 months. In this time, I’ve been able to refinance my house with a $460,000 mortgage. Before that, I had a hard loan with 9.5 percent interest-only payments, and had to repay $400,000 at the end of a 2-year contract. I prayed to my Lord Jesus to open a door for me to refinance. In the United States, you need 2 years of income tax returns to qualify for a mortgage. My $30,000-a-year income when I was freelancing wasn’t going to work for a $460,000 mortgage.
One day, I was listening to a Christian radio station that was offering mortgages. I made a call and explained my situation. I had just started my job, had excellent credit, but my last income tax return wasn’t good. They said, “Okay, let us check your credit. Send us your job offer letter and 2 pay stubs.” I did that and got approved for a 30-year fixed mortgage at 6.5 percent interest rate.
I feel so protected, blessed, and loved by my Father God, and I am thankful to my Lord and Savior, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
