Home and Neighborhood Kept Safe from Forest Fire
For 3 and a half years, my daughter and I had been planning a trip to the Olympics in Paris. While doing my devotionals on the morning we were to leave, I received a fire alert on my phone. There was a forest fire in the hills behind my neighborhood.
I clicked on the link and listened to the fire chief’s report. He kept apologizing and said they didn’t have enough manpower because the terrain was too steep and full of rattlesnakes, making it unsafe to send in what men he had. He mentioned 3 other active fires and that most of his crew were already occupied. He also stated that the helicopters and water planes were working on other fires, so there was nothing he could do. Basically, he said we were at the mercy of the fire.
Immediately upon hearing this, I said, “But God.” I truly felt God’s peace envelop me like a warm embrace. The Holy Spirit flooded me with scriptures to declare. I declared Psalm 91 over the situation and asked the Lord to send other firefighters, helicopters, and planes, to shift the winds, to cover the fire with angels’ wings, and to extinguish the flames.
I then texted my prayer partners from GRC and asked them to agree with me. These women prayed and stood with me. I felt so peaceful. I knew God had the fire covered, so I returned to my Bible time. About 30 minutes later, I received another alert, this time from the airline. They were sorry to inform me that my flight to Paris had been canceled. Now I was annoyed with the enemy trying to keep me from going on my trip.
Again, I sought the Lord and thanked Him for making a way and always working out all things for my good. After a few calls to the airline and some online bookings, I was able to get new seats on a different airline for the same price I had paid months ago. God is so good!
My neighborhood was on standby for evacuation. My daughter was very upset and emotional. She didn’t think we should leave with the fire so close. I wish I could truly put into words the peace of God I had that day. I knew God had blessed us with the trip and that it was just the enemy trying to ruin it. I told her there was nothing we could do, even if we stayed. God would take care of it.
I convinced her to get her bags, and we headed to the airport. As we were leaving, we saw helicopters and planes carrying water to the fire! God had brought the supply! Thank you, Pastor Prince, for teaching me to know and trust the Lord at all times.
