My husband and I have had four children, but we had a strong desire for one more child four years ago. We never had any trouble at all conceiving in the past, but for some reason it wasn’t happening this time.

We jumped right into a mentality full of works, such as specifically counting the days when I would next ovulate. Looking back, I see that we were trying to use our own performance and self-efforts so that I would get a new baby!

I have been listening and watching your broadcast for several years and the teachings on rest had settled in other areas of my life such as finances, career, and my family, but I had not been restful in the area of fertility.

One day, I was reading a scholarly article about how it was nearly statistically impossible for a woman past her forties (I’m now 42) to conceive with her own eggs and I heard the Lord telling me, “You’re going to have a baby, but it’s going to take a miracle. Stop trying.”

Had I not been immersed in the teachings of grace, I would have never understood or been able to act upon what the Lord said.

I wanted confirmation from the Word, so I studied the Bible over and over again, and just as Pastor Prince said, I couldn’t find a single case of an older woman asking for a baby and being told to go away! After I believed this, I stopped worrying about the baby.

It wasn’t long after I received that revelation that we conceived—after four years of using our self-efforts in vain for a baby! Age doesn’t matter, what medical science declares an impossibility doesn’t matter, and no amount of my efforts nor my husband’s efforts made any difference. This is God’s baby, for sure.

I’ve had a very healthy pregnancy and am due in August this year. This experience has really built up my faith. I’m “raring” to rest in other areas and I am now able to detect when I am slipping out of rest and into self-effort. The importance and blessings of rest have finally sunk in, and we have a healthy, growing baby as a result.
