Children Kept Safe from a Shooting
One Friday night, my 2 17-year-old children (my stepdaughter and my son) attended a party. The party was set to start at 9 p.m. They were already at a friend’s house, and at 8:00 p.m., my stepdaughter, Chloe, suggested to my son, Leo, and some friends that they should go to Walmart to burn some time.
At 8:45 p.m., one of the friends suggested that they leave so they could be back at the party right at 9 p.m. Chloe jumped in and said, “No, we should wait and go a bit later.” She had a feeling in her gut that they should wait.
So they left Walmart at 9 p.m. instead. When they got to the neighborhood, there were long lines of cars, police cars, and so on. Chloe’s friend texted her and told her that the party had been shut down because a kid had walked into the house and shot another kid at the party.
That feeling in Chloe’s gut was the prayer of protection at work! Had she not spoken up because of that feeling, my kids would have been in that house at 9 p.m. All I can say is thank You, Jesus, for protecting my children. I truly believe Psalm 91 was covering my children that night. Every day, I pray this over them and ask that they be in the right place at the right time. Praise Jesus!
