For the past year, my husband had been looking for a new job. He applied for hundreds of positions, but nothing seemed to work out. It was a long and sometimes discouraging season.

When Pastor Prince announced the theme of the year in January—The Year of Much More—I made a decision in my heart. I chose to stand on that word and declare it over my husband’s job search. I began to confess that his next job would not just be another job but one of much more.

A recruiter actually headhunted my husband on LinkedIn in December of last year, so God was already working behind the scenes. My husband moved forward with the application process after the recruiter contacted him. But after that, we didn’t hear anything back. The application seemed to go quiet.

We all know how competitive the job market can be. Sometimes hundreds of people apply for the same position, making the shortlist a challenge. Naturally, it seemed like just another opportunity that might not work out.

But not long after that, something unexpected happened. God moved in an amazing way.

My husband was speaking to a colleague at his current workplace, and she shared that she had just signed for a new role at an incredible company. When she mentioned the company’s name, my husband was shocked and said he had applied there, too, but had not heard anything back.

She immediately said, “Wait, I went through the same recruiter who contacted you. I’m going to call them right now. They need to shortlist you—you are excellent at what you do.” Within 10 minutes, the recruiter called my husband and moved him straight to the interview stage!

As he went through 2 grueling interviews, I continued to stand on God’s Word and declare His promises and the promise of MUCH MORE over the situation. I refused to be moved by fear or doubt. I prayed that God’s favor would surround him like a shield and that he would say exactly what needed to be said in the interviews.

And guess what? He got the job! Not only that, their feedback was that “he knocked it out of the park.” All glory to God! Not only did my husband get the job, but the salary was also more than double his previous pay, with additional benefits he never had before. It was truly MUCH MORE than we could have asked or imagined.

We serve such a good God. When we believe His Word and stand on His promises despite our feelings or circumstances, He shows Himself faithful. He is the God who does exceedingly, abundantly above all we can ask or think.
