After working the night shift, I returned home to my apartment and found the oven broiler still on. My husband had forgotten to turn it off before he and our son went to bed. It had probably been left on for at least 5 hours by the time I got home.

I could smell and feel the heat as soon as I walked into our apartment. The kitchen and surrounding areas were hot. Even items in the cabinets above the broiler were warm. Thank God nothing caught on fire despite items on the stove and a paper bag almost touching the stove top.

Throughout that day, I had prayed quietly in the Spirit whenever I was alone at work. Sometimes I found myself praying aloud with emphasis. I believe the Holy Spirit was praying for my family’s safety through me.
