No Longer Living a Destructive Lifestyle, Now Living Full of Hope
I became a born-again believer when I was 11 years old. But at the time, my understanding of salvation was rooted in a fear of eternal death rather than a revelation of Christ’s love for me.
I tried my hardest to live a holy life. I did all the required “Christian stuff” like fasting, praying, and reading the Bible. Even then, I loved the Lord with all my heart and tried with everything in me to live for Him. But the more I failed, the more I drifted away from Him because of condemnation. I was never bold enough to say I was a Christian, although I never said I wasn’t one either.
After high school, I turned to drugs, alcohol, and pornography to fill what I felt was lacking inside me. After 3 years of living an empty life of sin, I remember coming home one evening high from drugs, and how my father spoke to me that night.
Even though I never listened to him in the past, somehow his words were so simple yet powerful and loving. It was as if Jesus was speaking to me through him. My father’s words were full of truth—confronting, yet loving. My hard heart was broken by my Savior’s love for me. Shortly after this encounter, I started listening to Pastor Joseph Prince, and boy, has my life changed: I left behind the destructive lifestyle I had been living.
Today, I have a great job at a reputable supermarket. In a country where jobs are hard to come by, I know it is only the Lord’s grace that has brought me here. The people around me are amazed at what the Lord has done in my life.
I’m twenty-two now, and it has been 3 years since the Lord touched my heart. Today, my heart is full of hope for the future, all because of one man—Jesus of Nazareth!
