Protected from 2017 Barcelona Attacks

In early August 2017, my husband and I began a trip to Spain with our university’s basketball team. I would start each day with a daily devotional from Pastor Prince’s book, The Prayer of Protection Devotional.

On August 17, 2017, I read a devotional about 2 Kings 6. Elisha had told his servant, “Do not fear [the army surrounding us], for those who are with us are more than those who are with them” (verse 16). When Elisha prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened, he saw God’s horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. When I read that, I wished my eyes could be opened to see such a glorious sight too!

Later that day, my husband walked to our hotel in Barcelona. Just five minutes after, terrorists ran a vehicle over people in front of the hotel! Our basketball team and coaches were also supposed to walk that path at about the same time the attack had happened but they did not. God protected them!

During our flight home the following day, I realized my eyes had been opened to see God’s glory and protection surrounding us. No evil had been able to come near us during the attack. God is faithful to His promises in Psalm 91!

My heart is full of praise and thanksgiving to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His perfect work on the cross has made me a child of God and heir to His protection, favor, love, and grace. Praise the Lord for He is good and His mercy endures forever!

I’ve been watching Pastor Prince’s television program every day since 2012 and I’ve seen the light of the Lord in my life become brighter and brighter.
