We live in Houston. We were invited to our son’s friend’s wedding in Friendswood about 25 miles away. It was a Saturday, and my husband was driving his ex-wife and me to the wedding in the afternoon.

We were on the freeway and had just gone over the Ship Channel bridge. I was in the passenger seat, and my husband’s ex-wife was behind me in the back seat. We were in the 2nd lane from the right and were going to exit soon to another freeway.

There was a small pickup truck in the right lane pretty far ahead of us that tried to exit but missed the exit and ran into the barrier. All I saw was his truck go up in the air and debris flying everywhere! The exit was uphill so when he bounced off the barrier, he started sliding and swerving downhill toward us, ending up right in our lane.

My husband braked with all his might, and we were screaming for Jesus and God’s protection because we were headed very rapidly toward that truck. We stopped within 2 feet of the truck! We were so close we could see the man inside! We were all thinking that we might get hit from behind but when we finally got the courage to turn around to look, there were no cars close by.

I pray Psalm 91 over myself and my entire extended family every day. I also start the day by putting on the armor of God. I am fully and 100 percent convinced that my Jesus and His angels were there to stop what could have been a disaster for us all. Somehow, that man in the truck was able to drive off from the freeway, and we were able to go on our way. We were all shaking. I was crying and thanking God for His supernatural protection. I still thank Him for preserving our lives every time I think of that incident.
