Reunited with Family in the Year of Jubilee

Pastor Prince, I grew up with a very large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and parents, whom I loved being around. However, a few years ago, I became separated from them. My battle with anger, addiction, and feelings of hopelessness at that time caused me to pull away from my family and to stop talking even to my close friends.

I didn’t know how I would be reunited with my family. But the video trailer for your message series Jesus Our Jubilee—Theme of the Year 2017 was so powerful that I knew it was the Lord speaking to me. In the trailer, you proclaimed Leviticus 25:10—“each of you shall return to [your] family.” I claimed this promise and was overwhelmed with tears of joy!

Soon after this, I was reunited with my grandmother’s sisters. We had lost touch for a year and a half and I was happy to fellowship with them again. I also finally spoke to one of my cousins after 2 years. He happened to pass by while I was grabbing fishing gear from my vehicle. It was perfect timing.

Then I ran into another cousin whom I had not seen for some time. When she saw me, she called me by my childhood name “Mikey”! I was so happy to see her. I even had the opportunity to be trained by her in my job. We would chat between sessions, and she even shared some of her challenges with me.

Not only that, I ran into an uncle who was doing some maintenance work in our office building! He was the uncle I used to hang out with the most. A few weeks later, I saw my cousin (his daughter) working with him! All that kept coming to my mind was, This is the year of Jubilee!

I also learned through my family’s church that an uncle was getting married and that the entire family would be in attendance. I knew I would get to see my whole family again.

Sure enough, we were all reunited at the wedding. It was so amazing talking to everyone again. Just like you said, I’ve indeed returned to my family! I finally saw the people whom I had grown up with and who love me more than I can ever know.

And here’s what blew my mind: The Lord had been speaking to and moving in the lives of some of my family members. I look forward to seeing their lives transformed by the gospel of grace!

Praise Jesus for making Leviticus 25:10 real in my life! I’m still blown away by all that had happened in 2017. Without a doubt, it truly was a year of Jubilee and I’m looking forward to more of God’s blessings to come!
