Blessed with Favor at Work While Resting After Surgery
I’m 71, still working full-time in software sales, and I routinely deal with people half my age. Rather than “despising” my age, I’ve begun to “embrace” my age as a strength and no longer believe the lie “that if I don’t do anything, then nothing will happen.” I’ve also renewed my mind through Pastor Prince’s ministry, and am firmly persuaded that “when I rest, God works” and that “as the number of my days, so shall my strength be.”
Recently, I had knee replacement surgery. During my recovery, I learned that 2 massive deals in one of my assigned accounts closed during my absence. I didn’t develop the proposals and had nothing to do with delivering them to the customer. Rather, a team of co-workers formulated our response while I was recovering.
I just found this out 1 week after my surgery. I also learned that my entire year’s quota will be retired. Once this happens, everything I sell for the remainder of the year will be on an accelerated commission structure!
There was a time when I would have had had some “confusion” about who produced the increase—the Lord or myself. But I’m happy to report that mindset is a thing of the distant past. I’ve come to realize that apart from the Lord, I can do nothing and that I don’t get what I deserve but what Jesus deserves. What I’ve shared is 100 percent His unearned, unmerited, and undeserved favor.
All of the glory goes to our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work.
