Three years ago, after dedicating 25 years of my career to the pharmaceutical industry, I was unexpectedly retrenched at the age of 52.

It was one of the darkest seasons of my life. I was devastated, fearful, and uncertain about the future. My son was still studying in the United Kingdom, and I had the responsibility of supporting his education. I left Singapore and returned to Malaysia with no job, no income, and no clear direction. Every day, I searched for opportunities and sent resumés everywhere. At my age, I wondered if anyone would still believe in me.

But while I was worrying about my future, the Lord was already preparing the way ahead.

During New Creation Church’s theme of The Upper Room, the Lord opened the door for me to start my own business instead of giving me another job. Looking back, I see it as His provision and a business He had already prepared for me to step into.

Then the year after, the church theme was Third Day. That was exactly what I experienced in my business. It didn’t just grow but also accelerated beyond anything I could have imagined. Doors opened, opportunities came from places I never expected, and the business expanded rapidly. Today, I am earning more than I ever did during my years working in Singapore.

It wasn’t because I was smarter or worked harder. It was simply the Lord’s grace and favor.

Now, this year, the church theme is The Year of Much More, and once again, the Lord has exceeded my expectations. He fulfilled a dream I had carried since childhood. At an age when many people think about slowing down, the Lord opened the door for me to pursue a master’s degree at Harvard University—something I never imagined would be possible.

When I thought I had lost everything, the Lord was preparing something greater. When I saw retrenchment, He saw redirection. When I thought my best years were behind me, He showed me that my best years were still ahead.

Ephesians 3:20 perfectly sums up my journey: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” This verse is no longer just a promise to me. It is also my testimony.

I never imagined that losing my job at 52 would lead me to becoming a business owner, experiencing such increase, and eventually fulfilling my childhood dream of pursuing a master’s degree at Harvard University.
