Experiencing God’s Overflowing Favor with New Job and New Home
In January, Pastor Prince shared the church’s vision, The Third Day. He encouraged us to expect more grace, favor, and intensified blessings this year. I received that message with faith and affirmation, declaring, “I believe and receive it for my life!”
However, the year did not start out as I had anticipated. It seemed I was experiencing the opposite of what the vision promised—more stress, anxiety, and worry. During this time, I remembered hearing a message about David in 1 Samuel 30:6—“But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.”
I also reminded myself that my Abba Father is a good God who desires good things for me. I chose to prioritize my time with the Lord, and I began to witness significant breakthroughs. It was astonishing to see the things I was speaking to my Abba Father about in secret began to come to pass, often exceeding my expectations.
At the start of the year, the Lord placed a desire in my heart to look for a house. I had never truly wanted to rent a house before, but the longing was very strong. As my lease was nearing its end, I began researching homes in my area. However, the housing market did not fit within my budget.
As a teacher, I was not earning 3 times the rent required for these homes. Then our pastor at Grace Revolution Church preached a message about his experience in trusting God to purchase a home and how God exceeded his expectations. This strengthened my hope, and I reminded myself that I serve a good God who wants good things for me.
At one point, I told Him that I simply didn’t make enough money or have enough savings to move into a home I desired, especially since I had specific expectations. Yet, in that moment, I felt peace and reassurance that He would take care of it. I reminded myself of His goodness and faithfulness many times before. My job was to wait patiently and trust, just as Psalm 46:10 says: “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Eventually, I identified a location where I was interested in moving to, and I began applying for jobs. I was fortunate to be offered 3 interviews, and all three resulted in job offers, something I had never experienced before. I had a choice to make, so I prayed and asked God to guide me in selecting the right path.
And through a conversation with my then-principal, God confirmed exactly which job I was supposed to take. I accepted the new job, which also included a $9,000 pay increase. God clearly moved in my finances too.
Following the job transition, I focused on finding a home. One day, while listening to Pastor Prince’s sermon, he unexpectedly said, “If you are looking for a home, go walk the land,” referencing Genesis 13:17—“Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”
Inspired, I woke my son, and we set out to walk some land and view potential homes. We toured a relatively new home that was initially out of our budget, but the price had dropped significantly, down to less than what I was paying in rent for my townhome by about $300. I simply cannot get over how good God has been to me!
I noticed throughout the year that whenever I prayed or journaled about something, God would confirm it during the church services. Sometimes the worship songs I had been listening to during the week were the very ones played during the Sunday services, and the scriptures I was reading would show up in the sermons. I know these experiences are not coincidences. I truly feel blessed and spoiled by my Abba Father.
I am thankful to have been led to Grace Revolution Church, which continually reminds me of being Jesus-centered and of the unmerited favor, grace, and love of our Abba Father.
