I’m 43 years old, and I was caught in the cycle of addiction to cocaine and marijuana since I was 18. In the last couple of years, it got so bad that I was using them every day. I couldn’t believe how I had gotten to that point. I knew I needed to stop. It was hurting my relationship with my wife and my daughter, but I didn’t have the willpower to stop on my own.

I had been taught the Word since childhood, and deep within me, I knew that Jesus was the only one who could help me. I started watching Pastor Prince’s sermons, and his teaching was something I had never heard before. Pastor Prince was telling me to declare I am the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ, even while I was getting high. I was skeptical at first but was at my wits’ end, so I started declaring and watching sermons every time I got high.

My wife would ask me, “When are you going to stop? Another year is going by, and you’re still the same.” With tears streaming down my face, I would tell her, “I already asked God for help, and His Word says those who trust in Him will not be disgraced. He is not going to leave me like this.” I would ask God, “Where are You? Why isn’t this working?” But I still kept confessing I am the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ, that I was a new creation in Him, that I was a good father, a good husband, and a good son in Jesus Christ, that old things had passed away and all things had become new.

I also told God, “I can’t do it, but You can. I give my yoke to You, and I receive Yours, which is light.” I kept doing this for months with no results, until one day, I received the grace to stop. It was a hard battle, probably the hardest I’ve had in my entire life, but God heard and answered me because He hears the brokenhearted and answers them.

All glory and praise to God. I have been sober for more than ten months now. I continue to trust God in all I do, knowing He has a calling for me. God bless you, Pastor Prince, for receiving God’s grace so He can use you to continue preaching His grace.
