Healed of a Broken Heart

My mother died when I was an infant, and my father sent me away to my maternal grandparents to raise me. When I was 3 years old, my grandfather died, and my grandmother and I became homeless.

We lived in a boarding home for a while and later moved to an uncle’s home and then to an aunt’s home. My father invited me to visit him and his new wife when I was 7 years old. I had my own room and ate well but was sent away to my grandmother even though I cried I wanted to stay.

While living at my aunt’s home, I excelled in my studies and attended a prestigious college in Massachusetts where I had a Christian roommate who prayed for me, and I was saved. I also met my husband in college, and we were married after my graduation. The Lord has blessed us with 2 beautiful children.

My father had a daughter with my stepmother, and I was invited to this stepsister’s wedding recently. Even though I had forgiven my father years ago for not rescuing me from living in poverty, I did not realize that there was a wound in my heart that was freshly opened when I attended the wedding. I was happy for my stepsister and brother-in-law, but I was also crying.

I listened to one of Pastor Prince’s sermons online and heard him say, “there is a woman crying. The Lord has seen your tears and has healed your broken heart.” I knew that word was for me! I am now whole. Jesus closed that old wound in my heart. The pain and sadness are all gone because I know I am loved by my precious Savior. Thank you, Pastor Prince, for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
