In February 2015, my husband and I discovered we were pregnant with our second child. We were ecstatic at such a blessing! When we went in for our ultrasound in May 2015, we were told we were having a boy but that there were some issues.

The doctors found two instances of echogenic intracardiac focus (EIF—small bright spot seen in the baby’s heart on an ultrasound examination). They also discovered his kidneys were holding a great amount of fluid indicating poor functionality. These two anomalies were an indicator for trisomy 21 or Down’s syndrome. This news sent us into a sudden onset of fear and grief.

After receiving that report, we reached out to close family members for prayer. I particularly began engulfing my life in the Word, praise and worship, and listening to our many recordings of Joseph Prince’s broadcasts. We were to have a follow-up appointment with a maternal fetal medicine doctor to do a more in-depth ultrasound in a week, and we wanted to handle this through prayer and faith in Jesus Christ.

That week on TV, Pastor Prince had us shout “Grace, grace!” to our mountain for it to become a plain. Soon, I experienced a sudden calm and warmth over me and I knew with certainty that our baby boy was healthy and his body in perfect working order, without any deformity or abnormality. We held strongly to the healing power of Jesus.

We went in the following week to meet with the maternal fetal medicine doctor. My blood pressure was a perfect 120/60, showing no signs of stress or anxiety. The doctor also could not find any issue whatsoever with our baby’s kidneys. The two EIFs were still on his heart but more tests done on me showed that they were instances of calcification that held no negative implications for his health. In fact, all the tests came back negative for trisomy 21 or any chromosomal issues.

On October 16, 2015, we welcomed Ethan Matthew—a happy, healthy baby boy—into the world! All praises to Jesus!
