No More Signs of PTSD, Dad Healed of Severe Depression
In May of 2022, my mother passed away from cancer. She and my dad were married for 55 years. He appeared to handle her passing surprisingly well.
However, when the new year of 2024 began, I noticed a change in him. Usually a very social and active man, he became withdrawn. He no longer met his retired friends for breakfast each morning, and he stopped exercising and attending church every Sunday, as was his habit.
One day, when I came home for lunch, he told me he really missed my mother and was miserable. My dad, a veteran, served in the Vietnam War. Around March 2024, he began showing signs of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and was unable to sleep well most nights. He behaved as though he no longer wanted to live.
My sisters and I asked family, friends, and our church family to pray for our dad. We partook of the Holy Communion each morning and claimed our dad’s healing by Jesus’ stripes and His finished work on the cross. We prayed and declared healing scriptures over his life.
Despite our efforts, things did not get better, and he was hospitalized for several days. He was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and was treated before being discharged from the hospital after three days. Although he was physically better, his mental state had not improved.
We continued praying, receiving the Communion, and standing on God’s Word. Around late August or early September 2024, we noticed a change in my dad. He is back in church, exercising, and sleeping through the night.
God is so faithful. I am so grateful to Him for healing our dad and for Joseph Prince Ministries.
