Taxes Paid After Casting Cares on the Lord
I have been using the Gospel Partner App with the Day and Night devotionals. I enjoy the devotionals, and I was on my 26th one when Pastor Prince talked about outsourcing your worries to God.
I had been worrying about the taxes I owed and how they were going to be paid. This worry had been eating at me for a couple of months and was always lingering at the back of my mind.
In the sermon clip for this devotional, Pastor Prince talked about how God cares for us and how it is important to give our cares to Him. If you keep holding on to those cares, they basically make you weak and susceptible to the enemy’s scare tactics. Pastor Prince said to make a list of your worries, time-stamp it, and then leave it with God. This was a practical, tangible way to cast my worries and not pick them back up anymore.
I was worried I would not do it right and wondered what if it didn’t work, but I did it anyway. I wrote in the notes app on my phone what I was worrying about, with taxes at the top of the list. I dated it, and then I went on about my day with peace and felt lighter, less weighed down. Staying in faith seemed much easier than usual, and I started believing God more for the different things I had asked Him for.
Later that day, I got a text from my grandma, for whom I had illustrated a book a couple of weeks earlier. She said she would like to send me some money for helping her with her book. The amount was more than enough to cover my taxes, and she also bought me a drawing tablet I had wanted two years earlier but could not afford. A couple of days later, my grandma also sent me another $50 to get a shirt from a show I like, and my aunt sent me a belated birthday present.
Not only did my taxes get paid, but I also received even more than what I was believing God for! Glory to God, and thank you.
