Throughout last year, I listened to the sermon The Year of Rest and Acceleration and prayed that it would manifest in my life, especially in my career.

As a mother of a child with special needs, my career has always been on the back burner. I love working with special needs children in early childhood settings. Since my child was born, I have always worked part-time so that I can still spend quality time with her and her younger sibling.

I’ve always rested and trusted in Jesus’ unmerited favor. I believed that as the Lord was with Joseph and he was a successful man, the Lord is with me, and I am a successful woman (Gen. 39:2). It does not mean that I work harder or more hours but that God makes everything that I touch, in the little time I have, prosper.

Sometime later in the year, there was an opening in a position that I had always dreamed of. It was an advisory role supporting special needs children in early childhood settings. Not only was it an area I was passionate about, but it also came with a great salary and great benefits.

I heard from various friends working in the industry that this role required connections or decades of experience, none of which I have. However, Jesus is my connection, and He is my hesed wisdom. I applied for the job anyway, trusting that the Lord knows what is best for me and trusting in Abba’s loving heart for me.

The interview went smoothly, and I was offered the job a day later. I received a 30 percent pay increase in a year that saw global famine. It has indeed been the year of REST and ACCELERATION. All I did was rest in Jesus’ love for me, and Abba accelerated my career progression.

We moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 2013 and attend a local church here, but we still call New Creation Church our home church.
