Breast Biopsy Results Benign, Blessed with Pregnancy
Two days after turning 32, I received my routine breast screening results. My ultrasound was reassuring, but my MRI showed two highly suspicious areas with a BI-RADS 5 rating, meaning at least a 95 percent likelihood of malignancy. I was devastated and immediately imagined the worst. My husband and I felt helpless and turned to God.
I remember bargaining with God: “If You let me walk out of this with nothing, I’ll physically go back to church and resume ministry.” Then came the thought: Why not now? So we went to church that Sunday for the first time after 5 years of attending services online.
Before the service even started, I felt God say, “It is so good to see you here.” I felt His overwhelming love and sensed Him reminding me to look only to Him and that “it is done.”
The sermon was about fellowship and being planted in the body of Christ. I realized God wasn’t just bringing me through a medical situation. He was also drawing me back to Him. My circumstances hadn’t changed. The biopsy was still weeks away. But my heart had changed. I had peace.
I picked up The Prayer of Protection book by Pastor Joseph Prince, which I had got hold of years ago but never finished. This time, my husband and I read it daily until we finished it. Through Psalm 91, we learned to speak God’s promises over my situation. Whenever fear and negative mental pictures came, we went back to “it is written.” We had trouble sleeping, but as we drew near to God, we experienced peace that surpassed understanding and found true rest in Him.
During the 3-week wait for my biopsy, I prayed, believing that God could do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph. 3:20). At the time, I was praying specifically about my health, not knowing what else God had in store.
I had a subsequent mammogram, and it was rated BI-RADS 4A. Although the biopsy was still required, we thanked God in advance. On biopsy day, God gave me incredible peace and the medical team I had prayed for. The original area of concern in my left breast didn’t show up on the scans. After checking multiple times, the radiologists believed it was glandular tissue. They sampled another area in the left breast and the area of concern in the right.
Two days later, both results came back benign! Hallelujah! When we asked what had caused the suspicious MRI findings, the doctor couldn’t explain it. I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe in God-incidences and miracles. I had thought the best-case scenario would be early cancer requiring surgery and therapy. But God did beyond what I could imagine. I didn’t need surgery!
Earlier that year, my husband and I had been hoping to start a family but hadn’t been successful. When I received the suspicious MRI results, we put those plans on hold until my medical situation was resolved. But about a month after receiving my benign biopsy results, I discovered that I had conceived naturally! It was such an unexpected blessing, especially after we had put our plans to start a family on hold and had considered IVF.
The Prayer of Protection book taught us the power of God’s promises and speaking His Word over our lives. Through Psalm 91, we learned what it means to truly rest under the shadow of the Almighty. We had prayed and trusted God with my health, but He blessed us with something beyond what we had imagined. Praise the Lord for His goodness in our lives!
