Experienced Supernatural Peace During Typhoon Sinlaku
I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior at New Creation Church in Singapore in 2011. Later, I moved to Guam to be with my husband. Though I had to leave Singapore, I never felt spiritually disconnected. Through Joseph Prince Ministries and the weekly online services, I continued to grow in grace.
On April 10, 2026, Guam was placed under Condition of Readiness 3 (COR 3) as typhoon Sinlaku approached. Deep, overwhelming anxiety gripped my heart. The memory of super typhoon Mawar in 2023 was still vivid and unsettling—days without water, weeks without power, a damaged roof, and a wrecked car. The thought of reliving that experience, and possibly enduring something worse, filled me with fear and dread.
I did everything I could to prepare. I secured our home, inspected the roof, gathered food and supplies, filled the car with gas, and installed shutters, meticulously checking every item on my list. Yet, despite all my efforts, my heart was restless. I felt uneasy, as if something was missing.
My husband, being an essential worker, had to report for duty during the storm. Waves of worry flooded my mind. Would he be safe? Would my daughter and I be okay alone at home? My thoughts spiraled endlessly. What if I hadn’t done enough? What if this was worse? What if we couldn’t recover this time?
Then on Sunday, April 12, my sister messaged me and urged me to listen to the Sunday service message. The pastor opened with this question, “Are you going through a storm?” My heart responded instantly: Yes, I am about to go through a literal storm!
I was reminded that Jesus has delivered us before, and He will deliver us again as we allow faith to arise through hearing the gospel. That truth ignited something deep within me. The pastor also mentioned how “The Year of Much More” video begins with a storm, and how the crew drops an anchor in the midst of it. He spoke about anchoring ourselves in God’s promises, which are always “yes” and “amen.” At that moment, I realized I needed to anchor my heart, not just prepare my home.
After the service, I continued listening to Pastor Prince’s messages and was led to “God Is With You in the Storm.” As I listened, tears streamed down my face. I was reminded that transformation doesn’t come through my efforts or discipline, but by beholding Jesus. The Holy Spirit works in me as I fix my eyes on Him. I began meditating on the Word: “Let us go over to the other side” (Mark 4:35 NIV).
On April 14, as the storm raged and the winds howled violently against our home, I held on to that promise. Peace, unexplainable peace, began to fill my heart. I declared that the enemy could not steal my peace. Just as Jesus rested in the boat during the storm, I chose to rest in Him. I clung to His words: “Let not your heart be troubled” (John 14:1).
Though the winds were fierce and the rain relentless, my heart remained guarded and secure. I believed Jesus was taking care of everything I could not control. In the midst of the chaos, I partook of the Holy Communion, sat calmly on the sofa, sipped my coffee, and read Thoughts for Let-Go Living, completely at peace.
When the storm finally passed, it was heartbreaking to see the destruction around us, but I was deeply grateful to the Lord for His protection over our home and family, and for the unshakable peace He had placed within me. While the storm raged externally, He calmed the storm within me. I experienced His presence in such a real and intimate way, faithful, steady, and unchanging.
Typhoon Sinlaku reminded me that no matter how fierce life’s storms may be, we are never alone. Jesus is always with us, guiding us safely to the other side. All glory and honor to Jesus! And thank you, Pastor Prince and NCC pastor, for your anointed messages that continually point us to Jesus and reveal His grace so powerfully.
