Received Multiple Job Offers Despite Difficult Job Market
I have been working in the financial sector for nearly 3 decades. By God’s grace, I have reached a relatively senior level. However, in my last role as head of a department, I was forced to resign as a result of what I believed was politics at play against me.
I thought that God allowed this to happen because He had other plans for me, so I prayed and asked Him for a new and better job. What I didn’t expect was that after more than a year and going through a dozen interviews, there were still no job offers.
As time passed, I started feeling anxious. Global tensions and reports of an increasingly difficult job market for older professionals made it all the more stressful for me, especially when there are still financial commitments and obligations to be taken care of. My faith had never been tested to this extent before.
But somehow, deep down inside of me, I still had the quiet confidence that God had my back, and in His appointed time, I would see light at the end of the tunnel. I also had the impression that there was a purpose in this season I was going through.
Then, after more than a year of searching, I experienced a breakthrough! Within a short span of time, I received 3 firm offers from various banks, and invitations to interviews are still pouring in today. I actually have difficulty rejecting some of the offers because they refused to take my “no” for an answer and came back again with improved terms!
For someone at my level of seniority in the financial sector, landing another senior role appeared difficult, if not impossible, especially during uncertain times when many banks are retrenching and cutting back on hiring.
But Pastor Prince, you have taught us well not to look to the world’s economy but always to Jesus and His finished work on the cross. During this season of waiting, I kept declaring by faith that my job search would be successful and thanked Him for a new and better job. It was tough at times when things around me appeared contrary to what I was believing for, but I have also learned that, often, what appears to be a setback is actually a setup by God for greater success!
I am totally humbled by the measure of the Lord’s grace and goodness. I feel so, so loved by Him! I hope by sharing this, those of us who are believing God for something will continue to keep our eyes on Him and believe Him wholeheartedly, no matter how wildly the storm around us is raging.
Thank You, Lord Jesus!
