I woke up at 1am on September 29, 2014, because there was a terrible burning smell in my bedroom. I thought the air-conditioning compressor outside my window was overheating or on fire because of the heat wave. Thank God it wasn’t. When I checked my apartment, I soon discovered the cause of the burning smell.

Just downstairs (I live on the first floor) in the open-air car park where I always park my car, a car had been on fire. There were two fire trucks and firemen were still spraying water under the charred hood of a multi-purpose vehicle. My next-door neighbor came out and told me she had heard a loud explosion earlier. The fire from the car damaged two cars that were parked its left and right. One of them belonged to another neighbor on the same floor.

My own car was parked just one car and a tree (the cross of Christ!) away from the burning car, and hence it was not damaged at all. I really want to thank God that my car was protected and that He had caused me to “happen to” park in the right lot. I also want to thank Him that my family and I were nowhere near the car when it exploded.

Thank You, Jesus, for protecting us and even our possessions. And thank you, Pastor Prince, for teaching us that God’s all-round protection is available to us, even when we are asleep and oblivious to what’s going on around us.
